Although the potential for a major coccidiosis outbreak always exists, only about 5 percent of infected calves show signs of clinical infection.

The more costly threat is subclinical coccidiosis, which occurs in the remaining 95 percent.  Before the outward signs of coccidiosis develop, performance can be severely compromised through lower feed efficiency/gain.
