Although the potential for a major coccidiosis outbreak always exists, only about 5 percent of infected calves show signs of clinical infection.
The more costly threat is subclinical coccidiosis, which occurs in the remaining 95 percent. Before the outward signs of coccidiosis develop, performance can be severely compromised through lower feed efficiency/gain.
Preventing coccidiosis effectively and economically is one of the keys to successful calving, preconditioning and receiving programs.
We can help protect your investment with Deccox — not only by fighting the challenge of coccidiosis early in the calf’s life, but also by helping animals convert feed more efficiently.
Studies also show that adding Aureomycin can help cattle overcome stresses that trigger a coccidiosis outbreak.

Deccox® (decoquinate) is a powerful anticoccidial for calves that works directly in the small intestine, where it effectively halts the development of the two most economically significant coccidia in cattle — Eimeria bovis and Eimeria zuernii. Stopping these internal parasite early in their 28-day life cycle is key to keeping cattle healthy
Even when clinical signs of coccidiosis are not detected, Deccox has demonstrated improved performance in beef and dairy cattle, including better feed conversion and average daily gain.
Studies also show that heifer calves fed Deccox eat more feed, gain more weight and have less sickness than calves fed monensin.
Deccox is also safe to use. In safety trials, the products produced no adverse effect on weight gain, nor were there negative histopathological observations — even when it was 12.5 times its recommended dose rate. It is approved for use in milk replacers and whole milk for greater flexibility.
Deccox has also proved to be more palatable than monensin — a feature that translates to better coccidiosis control and performance. In a dairy heifer study, for example, calves receiving Deccox ate more during the critical time period surrounding weaning (6-12 weeks of age) than calves receiving monensin.
For added convenience, Deccox can be fed in combination with the broad-spectrum antibiotic Aureomycin® (chlortetracycline). Studies show that using Deccox with chlortetracycline reduces treatment “pulls” by more than one half.
